How can i clean my vertical blinds?

my vertical blinds have got very dirty looking with stains of dampness and bluemould, is there any successfull way of cleaning these or will i have to throw them out.

1. my wife puts them in a pillow case and in the washing machine take the plastic bits of and steep in mild bleach and hot water
2. take them down 1 by 1 and keep together, roll them up and put into the corner of a pillow case, tie the pillow case and put in the washing machine, when finished take out and hang them back up straighting with the palm of your hand so any creases come out....i wash mine all the time
3. Get a steam cleaner. My hand held one cleans anything and is a whizz at getting rid of mould and stuff. You ought to see what is causing the dampness though as it will continue to come back unless it is treated properly.
4. Throw them out and you will be rid of that "doctor's office" look in your house. Go buy draperies or curtains and make the house look like a home.
5. my mam washes her blinds in the washing machine. She rolls about six of them up and wraps a hair bobble round them . When they have finished washing all she does rehangs them damp and there is no creases in them.
