Vertical Blinds?

My vertical blinds are filthy. They have almost turned brown. When I try to remove them I often break the holders or rip the holes that hold them in place. They are driving me nuts! How can I clean them? When I try wiping them down, it just smears the dirt.

1. Have you tried paper towels with water, it shouldn't smear if it has water on it? Might smear a little bit, but wipe them down twice instead of once.
2. If you wait too long to clean them you may never get them as clean as you like. If the brackets are in good shape & you can buy a similar set You can just replace the blinds from the new set. Or the rod just snaps in to the brackets & then you can just hook the blinds in. Putting up new blinds is less work than cleaning old dirty ones. & new ones don't cost that much. I just did it & I think a 4 foot blind was less than $20.00.
