Window Covering

creative window covering ideas?

I have a window that is a different size than the rest of the windows in my rec room, and it is oddly placed. I am thinking of having shutters put on the other windows, but can't put one on the odd one. Any suggestions on how to cover the odd one to make it more cohesive? the window has no sill or any other architectural details.

  1. Could you hang a picture or mirror over the window? or would that be totally out of place. A large piece of furniture to hide it? Again it depends on location within the room. i.e. a tall bookcase, from near the ceiling to floor or so. Place stuff on top to fill in the area from the top of the bookcase to the ceiling. i.e. baskets, something decorative.
  2. You could still put the shutters on it to make it appear the same size as the other ones. You could also buy a mirror spray paint which you paint the ouside of the glass and the inside looks like a mirror. You could even frame molding around the window to look like a recessed mirror. They sell it at hobby lobby and michaels.
  3. If you put up drapes, put the rods all at the same height. You can make the window appear wider by putting the rod so the curtains are hang on the outside of the window. Good luck!
