Window Covering

Anyone have ideas for covering a 24" by 27" window?

I live in an apartment with a backdoor that has a 24" by 27"glass window that is covered with what looks like chicken wire metal. I want to cover it because of security reasons and I don't want anyone to see what I have in my apartment. Any ideas on how I should cover it? I have very modern tastes ----

  1. paint it. Mureil or otherwise it should keep up with your tastes but still aeffectively block the view.
  2. A 25" by 28" painting.
  3. If the door is metal, you can buy magnetic curtain rods and put any kind of curtain up there that you want. They also sell magnetic mini-blinds. Either one of these would be a fast fix for a metal door. If the door is wood and you don't or can't screw into it, I would use one of two things: 1. Frosted mylar that you apply with water and squeegee. It comes in a kit and they have it at Lowes, Home Depot etc. Not sure what dept so the best thing to do is hit the service desk right away and ask where it is. or 2. Apply a spray on frosted finish. This can be fun because you can use blue painter's tape to tape off a design, then spray on the frosting, the remove the tape. it looks great. I did this in an old house we had that had glass in the front door. I taped off a one strip wide about 4 " in all the way around, then about 6 " in from that all the way around. You can't really see anything through a 1" clear line and it looks very cool. Be sure to buy a 99 cent mask to wear as you do NOT want to breathe the spray stuff in. Have fun!
