Window Covering

Why passengers are instructed to shut down the window shutters /blinds in commercial aircraft during landing ?

  1. Must be in a particular country or on a particular airline. I've flown frequently and the only time the passengers have ever been asked to lower the shades on a flight was during the movie.
  2. I never had that happen to me, but maybe because a lot of people get AFRAID during these periods, so the airlines don't want to upset them or wants to ease their fears by limiting their vision.
  3. I have flown commercial many times have never heard of that instruction.
  4. They don't want you to see what you're going to crash into... (Actually, I'll bet I've seen this SAME QUESTION in different forms about a dozen times over tha last 24 hours... Very curious.)
