Why passengers are instructed to shut down the window shutters /blinds in commercial aircraft during landing ?

- Must be in a particular country or on a particular airline. I've flown frequently and the only time the passengers have ever been asked to lower the shades on a flight was during the movie.
- I never had that happen to me, but maybe because a lot of people get AFRAID during these periods, so the airlines don't want to upset them or wants to ease their fears by limiting their vision.
- I have flown commercial many times have never heard of that instruction.
- They don't want you to see what you're going to crash into... (Actually, I'll bet I've seen this SAME QUESTION in different forms about a dozen times over tha last 24 hours... Very curious.)
