Inside Window Shutters: - What's Better Faux Wood or Real Wood?
We are trying to decide which are better for our house. We live in a high humidity part of the country and are worried about the effects of the humidity on real wood.

- As a design element, nothing that is fake anything is all that "classy." Real wood is the way to go, and as for the humidity problem, as most houses are built with wood, there should be no problem. If you are worried, then there are wood treatments you can apply, but still, your regular stain and varnish should be all that is needed.
- Real wood looks so much better, and if you treat them with the proper coating they will last for a long time...
- My primary focus is in home repair/remodeling. I have 25 plus years experience in various trades and applications, as a self employed, but non licensed contractor. I also have 40 plus years in theatrical involvement, as well as various other skills, knowledge, and experience. House painting, flooring, minor elect. and plumbing, drywall, Decking, etc. etc. Beyond that I'll look for work in the trades also. I'm also seeking decent housing. I have decent references, even local to GR. Consider e mailing me if you have home related needs that need tending to. Any quality answers will be responded to. Thank you. Rev. Steven
- Faux wood is the way to go. if you have high humidity over time the expensive window shutters will warp if you go with real wood. Faux wood now has the look and feal of real wood. It really depends on who makes them. Check out your local Home Depot, they have some great samples of faux woods and also some offer shutters with proffesional measure and installation.. If you don't ever tell anyone they will never know that your faux wood shutters are faux wood.
