Interior Plantation Shutters Knowledge Base
Will sealing and oil based painting ensure a thin board will not twist or split as weather changes? I plan to use fairly straight grainded pine for interior plantation shutter louvers (3/8" X 4" X 15"). I am concerned about the wood warping, splitting or any of the other disasters that changes in humidity can cause. If I seal the wood and paint with oil based enamel, will the wood be protected from humidity changes. I know other wood types would be less likely to move, but I either can't find them or they are too expensive. I can get the pine at a reasonable price but would hate to see the louvers with twists and turns. Much work down the drain! Any thoughts?
