Aluminum blinds, wood blinds, faux wood blinds, roller shades, or pleated shades? I just bought my first home, and I have no idea how to pick out window coverings. Every other home I've ever lived in had cheap aluminum blinds, and I really dislike them, but they are cheap. The types of window coverings listed in this question are the ones I like. What are the advantages/disadvantages? Are the worth the added cost over aluminum blinds? Does the type of blind/shade you get affect your choice of curtains? Thanks
Are sunscreen roller shades really a good solution for the home? I have big windows that get lots of full sun. A consultant recommends "soleil" sunscreen shades that cut out a lot of the light but keep the view. They are used commercially a lot, and aren't cheap. But they seem like a good solution.

How can I create privacy on my window now that I have a portable a/c vent attached? I need help determining the cost and type of this Roller Shade please? I want my windows to have this roller shade http://allurewindowdecor.com/wp-content/gallery/DesignerRollerShades/DRS_2008_Nursery.jpg but I'm not sure if it's Soft, or Natural. It's from this page here http://allurewindowdecor.com/products-photos/designer-roller-shades/ My window is different than the picture though; it's a rectangular window, middle of the wall, and there's two panels(in the picture, they have three). The window in total is 39 x 44 inches (3.25 x 3.7 feet). It's 39 x 21.5 inches (3.25 x 1.8 feet) for each panel. i just need and estimate cost and whether if the fabric is Natural or Soft. Thank you. Oh my window looks like this but much bigger http://photos.sewamazin.net/images/A_8/9/5/2/2598/100_2045_71ef2.Large.jpg
What type of blinds/shades look best on french doors? I want to block light off hardwood floor.? My style for the room is casual traditional. How to keep people from seeing through open ground floor window? I live in a ground floor apartment and all the windows face the sidewalk. I like having my windowshade up to let sunlight through but people keep peeping in. I taped wavy plastic over half the window, which effectively makes it impossible to see through, but if I have the window open people can still see in through the gap. What is an effective and inexpensive way to block people from seeing in while still letting sunlight through? I was considering getting some fine netting or sheer fabric to attach to the bottom of my roller shade. Would that work?
What's the best way to shorten or splice a nylon draw cord (e.g. from window blinds)? We needed to shorten the draw cords from our window shades (honeycomb blinds from 3 Day Blinds). Fusing the two ends back together is more difficult than you might expect. We have been successful at heating/melting the cut ends with a lighter and squishing them together, but this tends to both discolor the cord and to leave a hard, rigid spot in the cord that hangs up when it goes through the rollers. In other words, it works, but it's not ideal. A visual inspection of the factory splice suggests that they're joining the ends without heat. Is there a special tool that does this? or a different technique that yields better results than what we've done?

Suction cup blinds for a glass door? Hi, I have these glass french doors in my house that let light in that drives me crazy and there is no privacy. The doors have a wood frame and a glass center. I dont want to drill holes or stick anything to the wood so i am looking for blinds or shades (preferably roller shades) that have suction cups so i can just stick them to the window. When i search for them all i can find are those ones for your car, which will not fit my needs If any one knows any website that sells this or a product like this please answer. It would be appreciated. Thanks I know there are some bars with a rubber tip on the end that you can just slide out and adjust the size but that wont work because there is no lip or whatever between the wood and the glass. it is flat.

I'm now shopping for window treatments in the living room, but don't know what color to shop for that will enhances the room. our living room and the kitchen is one room separated by an island and the flooring. the living room area is a beige color carpet and the kitchen is tile in the color of different shade of beige. the wood cabinet in the kitchen is a cross between an oak/walnut stain. with granite countertop. also some shade of beige with black dots and gray. We have a leather corner sectional in the color cream.
