Fabric Vertical Blinds Knowledge Base
best way to wash vertical blinds made of fabric? I'd like to wash some vertical blinds made of fabric. I'm assuming that taking them down and tossing them into the washer, on the delicate cycle, will work fine. At the bottom of each blind there's a rectangular weight sewn into the blind and can't be removed. I'm assuming it won't rust after the fact. :) Any suggestions or thing I should be wary of? Thanks.
vertical blinds... how to change the fabric in them? we just bought a new house and now we have painted and the blinds do not match and they are very dirty. should we try to change the fabric in them ( they are just the slide out kind) or just replace the blinds all together?
How do you remove creases from vertical blinds? We have vertical blinds, the plasticy fabric type, which have creases in them from kids playing with them - we've tried ironing them, but that didn't work, we don't want to wash them incase they fall apart - what should we do?
How do I clean veritcal blinds? I have white(fabric covered) vertical blinds. They are in desperate need of cleaning. A vacum attachment doesn't do the job. How can I can i effectivly and easily clean them? Can they be washed in the washer? Can I wash them in the dish washer? Any help with this would be wonderful!!! I have no clue where instructions would be on how to do this. Also the cloth does not slide out that is simply all that is there.
ideas to spruce up my vertical blinds? i live in an apartment and for some reason the look of my vertical blinds just bug me! theyre just standard vertical blinds see pic http://www.1blindsforless.com/vert.h5.gif anyways, aside from possibly just buying a long piece of fabric to hang over the top as make-shift drapes...what are some other ideas to make them look better? i like to think my apartment is well decorated lol and my blinds are just an eyesore....also, that picture is just to give you an idea of what im dealing with, those arnt my actual blinds...mine are actually alot more basic than that
Vertical blinds - how to clean them? We have number of windows with vertical blinds, the type on tracks that you pull a cord to close them. How on earth do you clean them? They are made of a heavy duty fabric and don't seem to come away from the tracks - we can get them off the attachment at the top of the window but they are still attached to another "track" so unable to send to dry cleaner for example. Is there some sort of product I can try when they are in situ or I can put in the bath?
Vertical Blinds Makeover? I would like to cover vertical blinds with a sheer fabric that when opened the sheers show..like the high dollar ones! Anyone have info on measuring for material, etc?
Window Treatments?? In my living room, I have 2 windows - one is a sliding glass door and the other is a regular window. The sliding glass door has vertical blinds and the other window has horizontal (I am in an apartment). I'd like to get some fairly inexpensive window treatments but don't know the first thing! I would like to get the type of treatment where a pole is over the window and fabric is draped around the pole, and hangs down on the ends of the pole. Does this make sense? Do I need to get rid of the blinds to do this? I do like my privacy. Also, do I need to buy matching poles since the windows are just a few feet apart from each other? Any suggestions on where I can go to find a good deal? How do I measure for the poles? And for the fabric? Please help!
I need advice on sprucing up my sliding glass door, any ideas? The main gathering room in my house (family, living, den room...I dont know what to call it lol) has a sliding glass door wall leading onto a deck in our back yard. Right now there are some old vertical blinds covering the door, but I need something new! The room is 17 by 11 and the walls are a medium brown wood paneling ( I know, I know...I thought it was kind of tacky at first, but Ive grown to like the warmth it brings) also the far wall has a fireplace that the hearth/mantel takes up the whole wall then the opposite wall totally opens up to the kitchen. Anyways, like I mentioned, I need some ideas, to inexpensively spruce up the door wall, which is in the middle of the room and is opposite of the couch and chairs, so I am constantly facing it! Im tired of the vertical blinds but Im not sure how to go about it, should I do curtains? fabric panels? if I could get some pics that would be great, I cant seem to find any online. Thanks so much for any help!
